Methodology

  • Source: every new Form D (not amendments) in SEC EDGAR's daily indexes for 5 filing days, Oct 13 to Oct 19, 2026: 993 filings, 993 read.
  • Startups: corporations and LLCs incorporated in the last five years, in technology, health care, business services, energy, retail, manufacturing and similar groups. Funds, SPVs, real estate, banks and insurers are left out, plus names that look like investment vehicles.
  • Name: the company name without legal words (Inc, LLC, Corp). Name length drops trailing words like Labs, Technologies or Therapeutics too.
  • Domain: tried on a short list of extensions and prefixes, kept only when the site is live, names the company, and isn't parked. Shares are over verified domains only.
  • Automated checks can be wrong: a name shared with another business can produce a false match. Each edition is spot-checked by hand, and domains found to belong to someone else are removed and kept out of later editions. Every row links to its SEC filing so you can check.
  • SEC requests use a descriptive User-Agent with a contact address and stay under the SEC's rate limit. Generated 2026-10-20.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Form D?

A short notice companies file with the SEC within 15 days of first selling shares in a private round under Regulation D. Most US venture-backed startups file one for each priced round, so the weekly list is a good, public view of who just raised money.

How do you know which domain a startup uses?

Form D has no website field. For each startup we try a short list of domains built from its name (the name on .com, .ai, .io, .co, .app and a few others, plus get-, try- and -hq versions). We keep a domain only if it loads a live website that names the company and isn't a parked or for-sale page. If a candidate forwards to another domain, we record where it lands.

Why don't all startups have a domain in the data?

Some use a name we didn't guess (a different word, a country extension, a long hyphenated name), some block automated visits, and some haven't launched a website yet. We'd rather leave a row blank than guess, so coverage is under 100% and the extension shares are computed only over verified domains.

Can I use the data?

Yes. The CSV is free to use with a link back to this page. Filing data comes from SEC EDGAR, which is public.
